While distributing the fertilisers to the Allaramma, the State governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, said though the quantity was not much compared to the number of Qur’anic schools in the State, the gesture should be appreciated, saying, with time the programme would reach all Qur’anic schools across the State.
In his speech, the Special Adviser to the governor on Education and Information Technology, Alhaji Aminu Isma’il Sagagi, said the fertiliser distribution was aimed at assisting the Allaramma to boost food production for their teeming pupils.
He added that the anticipation was for the Qur’anic pupils to get enough food in their schools so that begging would be eradicated from the Qur’anic system of education.
Sagagi disclosed that apart from the fertiliser, assorted seeds were also distributed to the Allaramma at the beginning of this raining season, saying this year was the fourth year when government began free distribution of seeds and fertilisers to the Allaramma.
He further disclosed that his office would embark on advocacy visits to the 44 local government areas with a view to soliciting the support of the district heads in its effort to make parents become more responsible to their wards that are sent to Qur’anic schools.
The adviser charged wealthy individuals in the state to supplement government effort by assisting the Qur’anic schools to help rid the State of street beggars.
