During her early years, she attended L.E.A. Primary school, Lere from 1968 to 1974. She then proceeded to G.G.S.S. Kawo, Kaduna for her secondary school education from 1974 to 1979.

All her life Aishatu had a passion for teaching, a career she started at a very early age. She was employed as a student teacher at L.E.A. Primary school, Lere while she was still in secondary school.

Later on, she attended what was then known as Kaduna Teachers’ College for her pivotal teacher’s training programme. After that, she attended the College of Education, Kafanchan, Kaduna State for her National Certificate in Education (NCE) where she graduated in 1984.

Aishatu got married to her beloved husband Mohammed Garba on the 1st of January 1982 at Lere town. The marriage was blessed with five children – Abubakar, Faruk, Maryam (Mimi), Aliyu and Abdulmujib. Abdulmujib died as an infant about 10 years ago.

Aishatu also taught at different schools in Kaduna including Essence International School and Command Primary School, Ibadan. Until her untimely demise, Aishatu was a student of Mass Communication at the Federal Polytechnic in Auchi, Edo State.

Aishatu was a loving, concerned and dedicated mother. She worked hard to keep her children safe and sound, to take care of them and to see that they grew up to be responsible citizens. To her sisters and brothers, she was always a mother and a role model as the eldest child and also for having lived a commendable and honorable life worthy of emulation.

She died on Tuesday May 19, 2009 along with her beloved husband of 27 years Brig. Gen. Mohammed Garba and her only daugther Maryam (Mimi) leaving behind an aged grandmother, a mother, 3 sons, brothers, sisters  and many relations.

Dear Aisha, we pray to God Almighty to make you rest in peace. May God bless all your good deeds with Aljannatu Firdausi. May God continue to bless and protect your children that you left behind, Ameen.
