The pro-democracy activists comprising the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), members of the Lagos State Executive Council, the state House of Assembly, party faithful, supporters and traditional rulers from across the state, yesterday formed the Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reform (CODER) to actualise the original report on electoral reform .
The pro-democracy activists who arrived the Ostra Hall, venue of the event in Ikeja as early as 8.30 a. m, also required an electoral reform from the Federal Government noting that the type of reform being demanded is a situation where the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), would be appointed only by the Nigeria Judicial Commission (NJC) and the adoption of an open secret ballot system, the type that gave a free and fair election.
While delivering a goodwill message as the chairman of the occasion, Bola Tinubu called on the Federal Government to quickly declare late Chief MKO Abiola the actual winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election as attested to by the umpire of the election, Prof. Humphery Nwosu.
