The attacks were launched after similar ones on Maisara 1 and 11 of the same local government on 30th of June which left 48 people dead.
Witnesses said victims of the latest attacks on the three villages were either shot or slaughtered.
Musa Ado, a vigilante in Monguno said the attackers stormed the villages at night and killed the people.
He said they burnt houses and also carted away assorted food and animals.
“The assailants came with guns and knives and went to many houses where they killed our people who are mostly men,” he said.
Borno state police commissioner, Mr Aderemi Opadokun who confirmed the attacks said a lot is being done to protect the citizens.
Meanwhile, a suicide bomber yesterday blew himself up and injured many people at a major roadblock that also serves as gateway to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Eye witness reports suggested that many people, including security operatives died in the incident but authorities later debunked the claims, saying only the bomber died while some people sustained injuries.
The blast happened around noon at Njimtilo, some five kilometers to the state capital along Damaturu road, where combined forces of the army, police, SSS, immigration, customs and youth vigilantes conduct thorough search on all vehicles and people getting in and out of Maiduguri.
During daily routine stop and search at the roadblock, beside the driver, all passengers and people in both commercial and private vehicles alight to be screened.
