It is the same in Nigeria of 2015. Almost everyone I know who supports the status quo – a continuation of PDP in government – also does not believe in Nigeria. Many nurse deep prejudices and hatred which has not waned with the passage of time or with much appeal and apologies from all quarters. Many exist permanently in the realm of revenge. They keep rehashing the killings in the north and other such gory stories. The images of death abide with them. A lot are of unstable minds. They are convinced that there is a permanent war going on, between themselves and ‘the other side’. PDP has also been spinning the Jonathan campaign along these lines. They have lost this time. Their stories have become tired. One of the unintended consequences of unleashing terror on a people is that they become hardened. And since you can hardly escalate the terror, they stop fearing. Nigerians are no longer afraid.
PDP supporters and President Jonathan’s henchmen, when pushed slightly, would blurt out that we should split Nigeria! Many of the vocal ones are from South Nigeria, and they will go into a tirade about what ‘Mallams’ have done to them. A dying population among them are from the West, and they would list the names of politicians jailed by Buhari, like 32 years ago. It is all about revenge, prejudice, hatred, sour history, segregation, condescension, foolish pride.
On the other side, the supporters of Change and Buhari, like me, are quick to agree that we can forge a way forward and give peace a chance, even if that will be tough. We believe. We are the ones asking King Solomon to save the child (Nigeria). Jonathan and friends would rather split the child so that everyone will go home with tiny pieces of the cadaver. The president has shown this tendency in the past, and even if he may be more wily in this election time, his aides have expressed this sentiment and he hasn’t cautioned them – at least not openly the way the situation requires.
The ranks of those who wants Solomon to kill the child is where David Oyedepo, GO of Winners Chapel belongs, as can be seen in his fiery sermon on Boko Haram, wherein he stated; “Lord, if its your will to Nigeria, break it now!” He went further to instruct his church members that if they catch any Boko Haram member in his church, or “anyone that looks like them, kill him! No reporting to anybody. Slit their necks. Spill their blood!”. He went ahead to ask; “must the north continue to rule? What devils!” How he concluded that the Boko Haram scourge is about northern politics remains to be seen. But he did express other frightening views, like “all the census are fake! Where are the human beings?! (I will be) surprised if the (entire) north is as much as Lagos”. Please click or visit this for details: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAgGkWs3GBs.
Now this is someone that accompanied the president to Jerusalem. ‘Show me your friends’. In the sermon, Mr Oyedepo also arrogantly thumped his chest while saying; “Friends, don’t mistake that only those in politics are in power”. The crowd got the message and exploded into great adulation. It was pathetic. The man further claimed he was so powerful, that if he didn’t want it to rain in Nigeria for 3 years, not a drop will be seen.
Nigeria is in the vice grip of psychopaths, megalomaniacs, schizophrenics and totally unhinged people.
Like Femi Fani-Kayode, PDP’s Director of Media for the Jonathan Campaign, and his partner in delusion and falsehood, one Pastor Bosun Emmanuel. These people are so evil that they threaten anyone who tries to point out their evil ways. Bosun was a representative of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at the recently-concluded Confab. Imagine! It is that same Confab, populated by extremists who ‘represented’ the rest of us, that the likes of Pastor Bakare and Yinka Odumakin wants us to rely on and postpone a crucial Valentine Day’s election? Perhaps they should find some love in their hearts, for that is Lovers’ Day, by no one’s design. Let us have some love – and some election – on lovers’ day.
But Bosun’s biggest project is the viral audio tape he has on cyberspace, which was also a sermon he delivered to some hapless souls in some church in Lagos. A total mishmash of diseased mumbo-jumbo, whose flaws include; 1. The near-deification of Oritsejafor and the President.
2. Ptolemic Parochialism – stating that Yorubas are the best in everything
3. Invitation to chaos, and revelation of a sickness that is worse that Christian Mercantilism, which is the inciting of people to militantism. 4. Using a false/forged Wikipedia document to incite Nigerians, and Fani-Kayode’s name was mentioned as one of the authors online. 5. Claiming that Nigerians should not bother about the performance of the president but to rely on some ‘divine destiny’ of the man included in www.kingdomnewng.com.
6. Stereotyping the Igbos as money-mongers, and the Hausas are all bad. 7. Misrepresenting the story of Constantinople in the 1300s. (It was in the Dark Ages/Byzantine era, and the Christianity practiced then was backward and eventually fell. The Islam of that era was what brought back science and learning)
9. Fraudulently referring to the number of mentions “Sharia” and “Grand Khadi” had in the 1999 constitution as a basis for discrimination against Christians, when he knows that those references were there because that constitution tried to make provisions for the north. Who doesn’t know that the original constitution, introduced by the British, was based on common law, which itself evolved from Christianity as practiced by Britain?
10. Saying that the idea of 6 geopolitical zones was foisted on Nigeria by the OIC and not an idea by Dr Alex Ekwueme
11. His idea that God wants only Christians to lead Nigeria is innately flawed and sick. His church people clapped for him when he said GOD killed Yaradua so that a ‘covenant child’ – Jonathan – will rule.
12. He falsely claimed that half of Abakaliki has converted to Islam.
Just a couple of weeks back, I heard Fani Kayode rehashing some of the rubbish Bosun has been spewing and they apparently wish to make those a plank of their campaign of negativity. Click here if you can stomach his sick tosh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FhYpKBKusQ.
Nigerians want to move on. We thank God for the Father Mbakas of this world, whose atomic bomb is still reverberating in the ranks of the seekers of vengeance. His was a message of hope, reconciliation, empathy and truth. May God save us from former drug addicts, current megalomaniacs, and schizophrenics who have a constant plot going on in their heads, that somebody wants to kill them, or someone was ‘born to rule’ over them. For the sake of our children, please God, help us. Enough already!
