Afolabi who is the chairman, Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON), made the statement at an induction ceremony for new members.
He noted that if Nigeria is to belong to the comity of nations, attention needed to be given to sanitation, adding that environmental health should be tackled through public private partnership.
Prof. Afolabi however, advised that emphasis should be placed on preventive health rather than curative in order to stop the occurrence of diseases that are environmental health related.
The chairman pleaded with the state and local governments’ authorities to give employment to the environmental health officers in the country in order to reduce the incidences of diseases in the country.
