He said cleanliness is part of faith and it is the responsibility of a government to evacuate refuse from the streets but where it fails in its responsibility, it is commendable that the people of the state came out to sweep their streets through self-help.
Abubakar commended the group of G44 Bauchi State elders for the cleanup initiative and pledged his readiness to ensure justice to all and bring real development to the common man.
The chairman of the G44 elders group that organised the sanitation exercise, Alhaji Muhammadu Adamu Barde Kerarriya, said they decided to evacuate the heaps of refuse as part of their contribution to clean up the state ahead of the inauguration of the incoming administration on 29th May.
Adamu said the people of the state are clean people who always love to clean their environment adding that their action demonstrated their good intention.
He said clearing the streets of refuse heaps will help to protect the state from flood and diseases associated with the rainy season.
The chairman said they provided 37 tippers and other vehicles and materials for the success of the exercise.
