Obasanjo presents report on priority areas to Buhari

Obasanjo constituted his own think-tank about four months ago to study key areas of challenges and suggested ways of dealing with them by the incoming President.
Five key areas identified in the report are education, power, economy, security and infrastructure.
Vice chairman of the committee, former Minister of Finance, Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu presented the report to the incoming president at a brief ceremony at the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) office in Abuja yesterday.
Dr. Christopher Kolade who headed the power committee, gave various stages of the proposed power sector development plan to include short term, medium term, long term solutions.
According to the report, the plan seeks to raise the country’s power generation to 10,000mw within a very short period of time.
Buhari regretted that the out-going administration has failed to furnish him with information about the state of affairs regarding development blueprint and the state of infrastructure as well as the challenges being faced.
He thanked the Obasanjo Committee for the gesture, adding that the incoming administration would need their advice as time goes on.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday in Abuja insisted that the PDP-led Federal Government was still not cooperating with the party’s transition committee.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed the party also described PDP’s spokesman, Olisah Metuh as having disdain for the truth.
“We say, with all sense of responsibility, that as of today, May 14th 2015, just about two weeks to the May 29th handover date, no shred of information as to the status of governance from any Ministry, Department or Agency of government has been given to our Transition Committee,’’ the party said.
