Breaking: Boko Haram launches attacks on Maiduguri Barracks

There is serious attack on Wednesday evening by suspected Boko Haram insurgents near Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri. Multiple sounds of bomb blasts and sporadic gunshots were ongoing at the 21 Armoured Barracks at about 7 pm.

The location had been attacked by Boko Haram in the past. Residents of Fouri, a neighborhood near the military facility said the insurgents gathered at a sugarcane plantation before firing rocket launchers towards the direction of the barracks.

The first sound was heard around 6.20pm, resident Musa Abdul Malik said.

“Hundreds of the terrorists are advancing towards the barracks but the soldiers in the facility are firing back,” he said.
