Speaking, yesterday in Abuja, at the end of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the party’s acting national chairman, Garshon Benson, said the party would do its best to ensure that the Buhari-led government fights corruption to ensure good governance.
He said the party expected the incoming administration to ensure security of lives and property, unity in diversity, prudent management of resources, creation of job opportunities for the teeming unemployed Nigerians, eradication of corruption, among others.
The DPP, which adopted Buhari as its presidential candidate a week to the general elections, added that it would it would consider collapsing its structures into the All Progressives Congress (APC), if the need arose.
“We are part of the incoming administration. Buhari has what we have in mind, that is why we adopted him as our presidential candidate. We are going to support the incoming government of General Muhammadu Buhari to do the needful. People should know that what they are looting is public treasury, look at our roads and hospitals.”
The party added that it would assess the results from each state of the federation where its candidates participated in the elections to ascertain what led to its defeat at the polls.
