Group blames PDP governors for Jonathan’s loss

The group, in a statement by its coordinator, Yusuf Tor, said while the All Progressives Congress (APC) made effort to accommodate party members and offered automatic tickets to defectors, the PDP governors who were in control of the states acted with impunity and handed over the tickets of the party to their lackeys in arranged primaries.
“In cases where their preferred candidates failed to win, results were blatantly re-written in their favour,” he said, stressing that that was what happened in Benue, Plateau, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Adamawa,  Jigawa, Katsina and  Kebbi states.
“Due to this, PDP suffered monumental losses in most of these states in both the governorship and presidential elections.”
The group said what made matters worse was that the governors after denying incumbent legislators tickets in these states, compelled them to leave the party.
“In Benue State a serving senator, Barnabas Gemade, was denied the PDP senatorial ticket and was compelled to leave the party. Gemade cried out to the party at the national level to no avail so he had to move to the APC from where he defeated Governor Gabriel Suswam for the Senate seat,” the group said adding that this was what happened in Cross River where Governor Liyel Imoke ensured Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba did not return to the National Assembly.
The group advised the APC not to allow any of the outgoing PDP governors and failed governorship aspirants into its fold saying they should stay back in the PDP and clear the mess they have caused the party.
