Nwuche, who was until his recent defection to APC a strong member of PDP and supporter of President Jonathan in an interview with Daily Trust in Port Harcourt yesterday said the results that were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), did not reflect the pattern of voting across the state arguing that results sheets were snatched with the use of hired thugs bearing arms under police protection.
He said, “On the scale of one to ten it was neither free nor fair. The election was marred with violence and the result did not reflect the pattern of voting. Result sheets were snatched with the use of hired thugs bearing arms and under police protection and were thumb printed and later figures that were conjured up were announced with the full support of the INEC.
“In Ahoada East and West, for instance in my ward, APC had over 4,000 votes, PDP had less than 200 votes but i heard they tried at gun point to change the result and eventually cancelled it when it was peaceful, free and fair. In other wards police were absent and allowed thugs to reign free and intimidate people. Many were maimed, many were murdered. I heard somebody was beheaded; it was a sad comedy on our democracy. My fear is that if you reward violence you will only encourage more violence .
“The election should be cancelled and a repeat election held. Jega must stand up to save his name and when they repeat the election they must provide security. for police to allow civilians to be murdered by the thugs is not fair.”
He called on politicians in the state to emulate the politicians in Lagos and Kaduna where he said elections were free and fair and rightful winners emerged and losers conceded defeat.
