Addressing newsmen in Abuja, national president of the association, Dr Edgar Amos Sunday, noted that poultry products were safe for consumption and advised Nigerians to ensure proper cooking and ensure high level of hygiene while handling the products.
He urged farmers to report any case of ill health in poultry for proper application of control measures.
According to him, the outbreak of the disease, as at February 18, was confirmed in 17 states.
They are: Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Delta, Plateau, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Oyo, Jigawa Kaduna, Bauchi, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and Anambra.
