Sultan tasks Muslims on Zakkat

Speaking at an award ceremony for five district heads who excelled in Zakkat collection, the Sultan  said proper payment of Zakkat could sanitize wealth and attract multiple rewards from Allah.
He also described it as a  plausible panacea to  social problems such as poverty and unemployment.
Earlier, the Chairman, Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Committee, Malam Lawal Maidoki, said the committee, in the past two years collected and distributed the sum of N77.6 million to  less privileged in the state.
He said in 2013, the committee collected N26.1 million as Zakkat from wealthy individuals across the 23 local government areas of the state.
