No plan for interim national government – Jonathan

A top Presidency source said Jonathan dispelled the rumours at the State House in Abuja yesterday at a meeting he held with a delegation of the European Union Election Observer Mission.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the president told the delegation that those peddling the rumours were being mischievous.
He also quoted Jonathan as saying that he would not take such a step because “Interim Nation Government is alien to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
Meanwhile, the European Union Election Observer Mission Chief Observer Mr Santiago Fisas, who led the delegation, told State House journalists after the closed-door meeting that the president reaffirmed his commitment to May 29 handover date.
Fisas said assurance given by Jonathan to hand over to the next president on May 29 was good news because “it is constitutional.”
