Few weeks to the general elections, individuals and groups have been pushing for the postponement of the February 2015 polls citing rising insecurity.
However, an online survey by Daily Trust reveals that Nigerians wanted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain the dates stating from February 14 for the presidential elections.
The poll which was conducted by Daily Trust Newspaper (www.dailytrust.com.ng) started on Tuesday the 13th of January 2015 and ended on Tuesday the 27th of January 2015 with a question: “Should Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postpone the election?”
The survey recorded a total of 666 votes with a Yes or No options and also an option for indifference.
Ninety point two percent of the voters selected the “No” option while 7.2 percent felt the election date should be shifted.
Additionally, the survey found that 2.6% of the Votes were indifferent as to when the election should conduct.
