The president was speaking at his campaign rally in Port Harcourt yesterday in reaction to an allegation by the Director-General of the APC presidential campaign organisation and Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that he had neglected the two states.
Though he did not mention any project he executed in any of the states, he said the allegation had proved those accusing him of concentrating development projects in the South-south zone wrong.
According to him, if he had not done anything for Rivers State as Amaechi had alleged, the governor should know that he (the president) is a “transparent person”.
“I’m not going to comment on the development in Rivers and Bayelsa states because these are my areas. And I can reassure you, just work with us, vote for us on the 14th of February, myself and Sambo. And on the 28th of February, vote for Wike and his running mate. Luckily, we’ve been challenged that we’ve not done anything for Rivers State, we must do something.
“I did not allocate positions to my people. He (Amaechi) would have been the first person to expose me to the rest of the world”, the president said.
First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan, who said the APC had no space in Rivers, begged the people of the state to give 2.4 million votes to her husband on February 14.
