Gaidam returned for second term in Yobe

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as winner of the governorship election after scoring 334,847 votes beating Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that polled 179,700 votes.

The chief collation officer, Professor Ibrahim A. Njudi announced the result on Sunday at the INEC headquarters in Damaturu.

Our correspondent reports that Governor Ibrahim Gaidam re-contested with the former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Maina Waziri of the PDP; Alhaji Bukar Abba Isa of Alliance for Democracy (AD); Alhaji Mohammed Musa Lawan of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA); and Ali Gumsama Jallaba of National Conscience Party (NCP).

Professor Njudi said election was held in all the 17 Local Government Areas of the state where APC polled 334,847 votes, PDP 179,700 votes, AD 1,225 votes, APGA 744 votes and NCP 350 votes out of 536, 402 total votes cast.
