The All Progressive Congress (APC) governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State is set to win a second term in office according to results being released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Our correspondent reports that results from nine out of the 14 local government areas put the APC candidate in the lead.
The contest is between Governor Abdulaziz Yari, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi and Dr Abdullahi Shinkafi of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
In Anka local government, APC scored 33,282 votes while PDP got 10,075. APC defeated PDP in Bakura LGA with a score of 45,477 votes against PDP’s 11,664 votes.
In the same vein, PDP polled 11,754 votes while APC got 43,379 votes in Maradun LGA and in Bungudu, the APC got 66, 946 ballots while PDP secured 15,554.
The other results are 67,511 for APC and 7,295 for PDP in Talata Mafara LGA and in Bukkuyum LGA, APC got 42,638 votes while PDP polled 8,833 votes.
In Zurmi local government, APC polled 52,379 votes and PDP secured 15,400 votes and in Birnin Magaji LGA, PDP secured 13,892 votes while APC got 38,548. In Gummi LGA, APC had 60,669 and PDP got 5,835 votes. These are the results declared by the returning officers as at the time of filing this story.
