The Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Akwa Ibom State have been marred by violence in the state.
Our correspondent reports that violence erupted in parts of the state and has disrupted the electoral process.

The gov/state houses election in Akwa Ibom was not peaceful as there were pockets of violence, ballot box snatching in most polling units visited.
Our correspondent reports that election did not take place in many units as thugs moved in and simply carted away election materials.
However the election in some polling units was succesful, Speaking with reporters on election monitoring in Essien Udim, Gov Akpabio decried the spate of violence which he alleged was perpetuated by the opposition party in the state.
He said even if election was conducted ten times in the state APC will not win Akwa.
