There was calm in Kwara State on Saturday morning as voters troop out to participate in the governorship and houses of assembly elections. Incumbent Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is slugging it out with the candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party, Senator Simeon Ajibola and Dr. Mike Omotosho respectively.
At Tanke in Ilorin South Local Government, Weekly Trust correspondent reports that electoral officials arrived the various polling booths as early as 8:00 am as they prepare for accreditation.
It was however observed that the turnout is not as impressive as witnessed in the presidential and national assembly elections held two weeks ago.
Some voters attributed the development to the cavalier attitude of people to the governorship election especially when they are not indigenes of the state.
