A 72-year-old man, Sunday Enudi, who hails from Ndokwa in Delta State, expressed hope that his vote would count shortly after exercising his franchise. The elderly man who could barely see, was led to the polling unit by someone.
“All the elections I have participated in beginning from the 60s till date have been characterized by either rigging, tribal or religious sentiments. I hope that this one will set this nation on the right part. We had great hopes when we had our independence and what we are witnessing today is not part of what we expected,” he said.
He urged all candidates to accept the results in good faith. “I have lived an unfulfilled life, I do not want my children to go through the same thing. I call on the political class to look beyond their individual interests, and unite all regions of the country because that is what our founding fathers wanted,” he said.
