Elderly voters face difficulty with fingerprints

Elderly voters in some parts of Kwara State experienced difficulty
during the accreditation exercise as their fingerprints could not be
captured.

The affected voters, aged 80 to 90 had problem with identifying
their finger prints.

This prompted INEC officials to resort to using the identification
name and number after several attempts to wash and clean their hands
yielded no results.

An observer for Ilorin west, Mr. Alawiye Teki noted that the system is
slow but pointed out that the exercise was peaceful.

However, the accreditation and the voting exercise was peaceful and
orderly despite the large presence of security personnel. The
situation was not different at Sosoki, Alapa, Oja-Iya, Ga Lamba, and
Efue communities all in Asa LG.

At Kwara North, the state Deputy Governor Elder Peter Kishira lauded
the use of the card reader though it was gathered that the machine did
not work in some polling units as the INEC officials resorted to
manual accreditation
