Technical hitches coming from the card reader have slowed down accreditation of would be voters in Nasarawa State.
The inability of the card reader to recognise the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVCs) has blighted the accreditation exercise in the state, with many people expressing frustration over the development.
In all polling units visited, the late start of the exercise was further worsened by the card reader’s challenge, keeping lengthy queues of anxious electorate waiting to be accredited.
At Kagbu, it took the Information Minister, Senator Patricia Akwashiki 15 minutes to be accredited.
She expressed disappointment over the delay in authenticating the PVCs but urged voters to remain calm and peaceful as INEC officials provided alternative means to accredit them.
“So far, it has not been good because in my polling unit only one person has been captured. We are here from 8 o’clock, it’s now after 10 and only one person has been captured,” she complained.
