The deployment of large security personnel might not be unconnected with the tension and the apprehension in the ward with Saraki, the state All Progressive Congress (APC) leader and key Peoples Democratic party (PDP)
gladiators spoiling for war.

Senator Saraki arrived at 10:55 am and got accredited immediately at polling unit 005. Gbemi Saraki and National Planning Minister had been earlier accredited amidst huge turnout of voters and onlookers at the polling units.

Speaking with newsmen, Saraki, a former Governor of the state lauded the conduct of the exercise especially the use of the card readers, saying though there might be complaints in some polling units about the card
reader, the exercise is generally peaceful.

He stressed that the card reader would make the election credible even as he commended the enthusiasm of the voters.
However, Minister of National Planning who is a PDP leader disagreed with Saraki, saying the PDP had envisaged the challenge with the card reader.

He warned against disenfranchising voters as a result of the card reader. Abubakar who is a political scientist stressed that INEC should have test run the use of the card readers before using it for the general election.

“The PDP said it, people thought we were crying foul but we have been proven wrong now. It is not working,” he said.
