Delta State: Group supports Okowa’s gubernatorial ambition

The Abuja chapter of the Aniocha-Oshimili Progressive Union has expressed support for the gubernatorial ambition of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, saying his knowledge and experience will hasten development of Delta State.

President of the group Mr Andrew Enechaziam, who called for a peaceful, free, fair and credible election, urged other groups in the state to support Okowa’s ambition in the spirit of sake of fairness, saying no person from his geographical location has been governor since the creation of the state.
Represented by the vice chairman of the union, Chuks Onyeshiri, Enechaziam assured that “our support is not just because Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is our brother but because he is a performer who we can trust. As secretary to the government of Delta State, he performed, as senator and chairman of Senate committee on health, he performed. You will therefore agree with me that he will also perform as governor of Delta State.”
He added that the group has encouraged all its “members who registered at home to go for their PVCs. We have used inter and intra-village football matches to address our youths on the need to shun violence.
“Some of our members are men and women of integrity whose views are highly respected in our various communities. They have been involved in the voter education at home,” he said.
