Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and the state APC chairman, Chief Hilary Eke, were conspicuously absent yesterday at a peace accord meeting organized by security agencies in the state.
The accord meeting held at the Imo State Police Command headquarters in Owerri had in attendance 11 governorship candidates and representatives of 19 political parties.
The organizers prevented the representative of the governor, Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere, from endorsing his signature on the document and making statements, saying he is not the APC candidate.
The Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, said the essence of the meeting was to ensure violence-free elections. He advised politicians to abide by the accord to ensure that Imo remains peaceful during the election period.
