The Niger state government is poised to enhance the teaching of Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) in schools across the state with the recruitment of professional teachers in the religion.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Jonathan Tsado Vatsa yesterday in Minna, the state government said the gesture was part of effort to prove that Christians were not being marginalized.
The statement quoted Governor Abubakar Sani Bello as saying that the teaching of Christian and Islamic knowledge would help in inculcating morals in students and pupils.
The statement said the fact that the state government sponsored the first Christmas carol since the inception of the state 40 years ago showed an effort aimed at encouraging religious harmony.
