The Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Nigerian Architectural Professionals (ATAP) has embarked on massive tree planting campaign to fight desertification and mitigate the effect of global warming.
The branch chairman, Umar Marafa, told Daily Trust that its members had so far planted hundreds of tree seedlings at strategic parts of Yola as part of ATAP’s end of year activities.
“We planted 50 seedlings at the headquarters of the state urban planning. We planted about 40 at federal housing estate primary school and other public and private schools as well as other places in need within the state capital. This is part of our contribution to mitigate desertification and global warming,” Marafa said.
Also speaking at a dinner organized for members, the National President of the association, Dr Olusegun Idowu, said the association aimed to bring together the various professionals, including qualified architects, architectural technologists and draftsmen with a view to eliminating quackery.
