Why El-Rufai should not hold public office — Dantiye

A former chairman of the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on the defunct Nigerian Telecommunication Company (NITEL), Alhaji Nasiru Garba Dantiye, yesterday, gave reasons why the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufa’i, should not be allowed to hold any public office henceforth. Dantiye, who represented Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State from 2003-2007, said: “As the chairman of House Committee on NITEL, a committee saddled with responsibility of investigating the management takeover of NITEL by Pentascope, I still stand by the committee’s recommendation that banned el-Rufa’i from holding any public office for the rest of his life.
“From what we discovered at the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE), I will continue to tell Nigerians that he is not a trustworthy person that can be given public fund to handle.”
He alledged that there were many anomalies in the process of NITEL takeover by Pentascope, a company brought into Nigeria by el-Rufai.
