The Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom, Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, Tuesday, moved from Eka’Ohae to Usama Palace to continue the coronation rituals.
Prince Erediawa left the Eka’Ohae at about 6: 30pm to Usama Palace and as the journey progressed he would stop over at some places to perform some rituals and continue the journey.
The Usama Palace, Daily Trust learnt was the first site of the Oba’s home before it was moved to the current location inside Benin City by Oba Ewedo in the 13th century.
Usama is the venue where the coronation rites are performed.
The Crown Prince is expected to spend seven days at the Usama where he will perform all rituals and ceremonies of the kingdom.
It was gathered that in between the seven days, he is expected to perform the ceremony of chosen the name he would to be called through historical game called Akhue game.
A palace chief, the Esogba of Benin, Osaro Idah said the game will launch the Crown Prince into the name he wanted to answer.
The Crown Prince was escorted by various groups and chiefs, namely Osa and Osua, Holy Arousa Chathedral, Ikpema and Emaoba as well as Iseweren who are the bodyguard to the Crown Prince.
