Magnificent but deadly! Osprey swoops down on its unsuspecting prey

A stunning brown and white-feathered osprey creates a splash as she swoops down onto a river and catches a fish in her claws. First, the large bird of prey circles her hunting area at a height of about 65ft, scanning the turquoise blue water for fish such as gizzard shad or striped mullet. As soon as she spots one, the osprey dives towards the water and manages to scoop up her target in one attempt. After catching the fish, the osprey  pushes up her body from the water with her full power, then dries herself by twisting like a wet towel during her flight to the nest.
