The Egyptian parliament, will on the 9th of October 2016, mark its 150th anniversary.
The celebration, said a statement from the Egypt embassy in Abuja, would be held at the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Egypt’s 596 members of parliament are expected to attend the event.
Speakers from Russian, American, European, Chinese and Japanese parliaments, are also expected to be at the anniversary celebration, along with the Speakers of the Arab legislatures.
“The history of Egypt’s parliament, the first in the Arab, African and Middle East regions, dates back to 22nd October 1866 when the 75-MP Council of Consultative Deputies (Maglis Shura Al-Nuwab) was formed,” the statement said.
In another development, the 3rd session of the 4th legislative term of the African Parliament will be held at Sharm El-Sheik from the 9th – 19th of October 2016.
