Pillars stay third after draw at Sunshine

Kano Pillars FC yesterday held their hosts Sunshine Stars of Akure to a goalless draw in a weekend that all home teams won their ties.

The result means the former Nigerian league champions remain third on the log with 15 points from 8 matches. They are behind Plateau United, who shares the same points but with a superior goal difference, while Akwa United, who like Plateau United were involved in CAF Champions League yesterday are top of the log.

In Enugu, Kelvin Itoya scored the only goal of the match in 82th minutes as Rangers defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0, while Eta Okon Otop was the match winner in Port-Harcourt where GO Round defeated Abia Warriors 1-0.

The highest win yesterday came from Nnewi where FC IfeanyiUbah won 2-0 against visiting Heartland, while Kwara United edged Katsina United 2-1, with goals from Godwin Chukwuemeka (50th) and Stephen Alfred (53th), while Katsina’s consolation was scored by Martin Ursule in the 85th minutes of play.
