Broc Brown is 7ft 8 inches tall, and he hasn’t stopped growing yet.
The 19-year-old adds around six inches every year to his height and if things carry on the way they have been, he could soon surpass the current world’s tallest man, Sultan Kosen, who is 8ft 2ins.
His giant stature is down to a genetic disorder which he was diagnosed with aged 5.
Family members realised he was different when he was around 5ft 2 when he started nursery – a height that would be normal for an adult woman.
The condition has obviously affected Broc’s life, but it has also changed his family’s life too.
‘When you have a five-year-old who has hurt themselves and they come running at you, you pick them up,’ his mum Darci said.
‘I would carry him around when he was half the size of me so I have a lot of back problems.’
They have had to spend money adapting their home for such a large child, including buying an 8ft bed and a massive arm chair, which they refer to as the big man’s chair.
Broc, from Michigan, is also too large for normal shoes and clothes, so everything he wears has to be tailor made.
Nike made him a special pair of trainers because he had outgrown the biggest size they had, in a style previously worn by basketball player Shaq.
He also needs specially made socks to cover his size 28 feet. .
Darci said: ‘It’s a genetic disorder and there’s nothing that can stop him from growing – I don’t know if he will ever stop.’
He was diagnosed with Sotos Syndrome, known as cerebral gigantism, when he was just five-years-old and his mother was told that he would not outlive his teenage years.
But doctors are now confident that Broc will have a normal life span despite his health problems.
