A member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State has called for adequate provision to tackle snake bite, especially in the southern part of Plateau State.
Rep Timothy Golu (PDP, Plateau) told Daily Trust in Abuja that government appeared not to be giving much attention to the issue of snake bite.
He said over the years, there have been poor budgetary provision to tackle snake bite, which he said portend danger for affected areas.
He said the entire people of Plateau south were threatened by snakes on and that vaccines and anti-snake venom were not usually provided.
“The only treatment centre for the North Central is in Langtang. That’s where people from as far as Taraba come to. They should provide additional centres. There should be solar refrigerators for vaccines to be stored. Government must commit more funds into snake biting,” Timothy said.
