UNDP trains 264 Gombe women on business skills

The United Nations Development Programeme (UNDP) in partnership with Gombe State government has commenced the training of 264 women and youth in various business skills.
Speaking at the flag-off of the programme, a consultant, Professor Iliya Dongs, said the participants would be trained in five different trades; tailoring, fashion design, lumbering, Plaster of Paris (POP) and solar power installations.
Professor Dongs added that at the end of the training, each participant would acquire the appropriate skill to start a business, adding that government would also provide them with kits to start their own business and become employers of labour.
In her remark, Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Rabi Daniel, described the scheme as timely and urged the participants to make good use of the opportunity.
