The commander of Operations Safe Haven (OPSF), Major General Rogers Nicholas, has advised youths to stop putting tattoos on their bodies as the practice will disqualify them from getting recruited into any security agency.
He gave the advice on Tuesday at a programme themed, “Consultative Dialogue Conference on Youths, Security and Governance: Chatting The Way Forward in Plateau State,” which was organised by the Centre for Youth Participation and Advocacy (CYPA), in Jos.
He said: “I am advising our young people to stop going for tattoos on their bodies. The security agencies are now screening out applicants for recruitment on the bases of tattoo. When you come for recruitment, they will strip you and search your bodies thoroughly for tattoos.”
The military commander added that such lifestyle will only deny them employment opportunities.
General Nicholas said the youths must be responsive in their lifestyle to be considered for leadership roles as well as employments.
CYPA’s country director, Ambassador Chris Iyama, said the event aimed to chart the way forward on sundry issues that affect the large youth population in Plateau state.
At the event, participants discussed how to end insecurity in Jos and environs, as well as how to involve youths in the political leadership of the country, among others.
