Women in PENGASSAN reach out to IDPs

The female members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, known as Women in PENGASSAN, Kaduna zone, have donated food stuff and other relief materials to the internally Displaced Persons in Abuja.
The items, which included bags of rice, food condiments, sets of clothes, toiletries, among others, were presented to the IDPs in New Kuchigoro camp in Abuja.
Speaking during the presentation of the items, the zonal leader, Ruth G. Alkali said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the sufferings of insurgency victims.
“As mothers, we know the pains of a mother losing her comfort zones to insurgents and now sheltering in shanties. It is not really easy for them. So we deemed it fit to donate the relief items to alleviate their sufferings,” she said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the IDPs, the camp’s women leader, Gladys Mathias expressed appreciation to the women for the kind gesture just as she appealed to the government to improve the condition of the camp.
