Kaduna and drivers of TSA

The Accountant-General of Kaduna State, Umar Waziri, is one of the top government functionaries giving their modest, but excellent contributions to the development of Kaduna State today. 

It is now an indisputable fact that the actual institutionalization of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) regime all over Nigeria, is a good and positive development. It has also helped in the pursuance and realization of sound and transparent fiscal policies, in conducting, governing and managing public affairs and activities in the country today. 

It goes without saying therefore that Umar Waziri; as the Accountant-General of Kaduna State and as one of the competent appointees of Governor Nasir Ahmed El-rufai, is one of the architects of this laudable and successful policy, and a lot of others of its kind.

The appointment of Waziri and his subsequent assumption of office led to the immediate stoppage of lavish and wasteful government spending, hitherto prevalent in the state. Waziri is truly instrumental to the institution of this practice of  accountable system of government expenditure in Kaduna State. And the measure has handsomely paid off, as it has now entrenched sanity in the system, just as it has also cut cost and saved the Kaduna State citizenry a lot of funds.

Closely related to the above fact is the restitution of frugality and prudence in the financial commitments of Kaduna State government. Waziri has been, and is still giving his best in properly controlling, managing and streamlining Kaduna State government’s public expenditure. Now in Kaduna State government MDAs, it is no more business as usual.   Now, there is more respect for contractual obligations in Kaduna State. Payments for contractual jobs are religiously done according to the level of work executed. 

It would be recalled that even President Muhammadu Buhari was full of praises for the dexterous, exemplary and enviable performances, achievements and successes recorded by the present Kaduna State government in the past two years, especially in the areas of vibrant financial policies. The President commended Kaduna State for being the first in so many respects in this regard. No doubt Umar Waziri justifiably and meritoriously takes a good or fair share of this kudos and commendation.
