Adamawa chief of staff’s son denies hand in burglary

Sulaiman Abba, the son of the Chief of Staff to Adamawa State Governor, Abba Jimeta, who is facing burglary charges along with four others, said he was implicated by one of the thieves to blackmail his father.
Five accused persons, including Abba, were arraigned for criminal conspiracy, theft and house breaking after they allegedly stole $10,000, a luxury car and other valuables at the residence of the owner of Hometel Hotel in Yola, Umar Fali.
An upper Area Court 1 Yola has granted bail to Suleiman, who denied any involvement in the crime following an application filed by his counsel.
Another person was also granted bail while the remaining three, who admitted committing the crime, were remanded in prison custody.
Abba’s counsel, Abubakar Babayola said the case could not have been robbery since there was nobody in the house during the burglary apart from dogs.
