The Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has embarked on an early warning interactive sensitization visit to flood-prone communities in the state on the predicted late heavy rainfall in the riverine communities.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) and Nigerian Hydrological Services agency (NIHSA) have predicted late heavy rainfall, which would cause riverine communities to experience flooding.
Speaking at Idemili South Local Government Council headquarters, Ojoto, the leader of the team, Barr. Chukwudi Onyejekwe, urged the affected communities to be prepared to manage the flood when it came.
He said although only Akwukwu and some parts of Oba towns might be affected in Idemili South LGA, the life of every individual was dear to the state government.
“We are here to sensitize communities to be prepared against flooding. Even if it is 10 persons that may be affected, Governor Willie Obiano is concerned about those 10 persons,” he said.
