Unlucky turtle tossed into the air by killer whale – before being eaten

This is the moment an Orca teased its prey by tossing it into the air – before eating it. The killer whale threw the poor turtle metres high in the Bolivar Channel, Ecuador, and played with it for several minutes before it met its fate. The incredible photo was taken by tour guide Phil Courter during a boat trip around the Galapagos Islands, off the coast of Fernandina Island recently. Delighted passenger Fernando Diez, 33, ‘never imagined’ he’d see the event, even though it’s not uncommon for Orcas to tease their prey in this way.
