Kogi NMA raises alarm over exodus of doctors

Tijani, who said this on Wednesday in Lokoja, noted that the strike action doctors in the state embarked upon to press home demands over their wellbeing had entered day 30 with the government showing no commitment to address them.  

He said in view of the development, no fewer than 50 of its members had gone for interviews in other states such as Zamfara, Yobe and Niger while others are on the verge of leaving the country for greener pastures. 

Dr Tijani appealed to  the state government "to do the needful to prevent further brain drain that has already started in Kogi health sector". 

Daily Trust reports that the NMA in Kogi had on Jan. 7, directed its members to resume strike over an alleged failure by the state government to meet their demands, amongst them 
the inability of the state government to pay the doctors’ full salaries and non implementation of adjusted CONMESS salary structure.
