Arase denies taking police vehicles

Former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, yesterday denied taking away 24 police vehicles after his retirement.
The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, had said Arase took the vehicles when he recently left office. He has authorized an audit of all police investment and subsidiaries, barely a month after taking over from Arase. A statement from Arase who is currently in London denied the allegation, saying it was  false. He also denied getting any letter from Idris notifying him about returning the vehicles.
He said: “I suspect there must be a disconnect somewhere, because every information needed by my successor is provided in my hand-over notes.” Police spokesman, DCP Don Awunah, said he would not comment on the matter.
