A Katsina Magistrate’s court was yesterday told how seven men allegedly abducted and gang-raped of 14-year-old girl (names withheld).
The incident allegedly happened January 12 at Tudunwada area of Funtua local government of Katsina State.
Police prosecutor Sani Ado told the court that the victim’s father, one Yusuf Umar, reported the matter at the Central police station, Funtua which led to the arrest of one of the suspects.
He said, Sani Awwalu, 19, one of the suspects in whose room the offence was allegedly committed was the only one being arraigned as the six others are still at large.
He listed those on the run to include, Ibrahim Sulaiman, Salahudeen Lawal, Shamsu Shaaibu, Yusuf Rabiu, Abubakar Khalid and Auta.
He said the accused deceived the victim and had sexual intercourse with her at Awwal’s room severally contrary to sections 273 and 283 of the Penal Code law.
Ado told the court that police were still investigating the matter and appealed for an adjournment which was subsequently granted by the magistrate Fadila Dikko.
Dikko adjourned the matter to April 4 this year and asked the only accused present, Auwwal, to be remanded in prison custody till the adjourned date.
