The Eastern Unity Forum (EUF) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene by ordering the immediate swearing-in of Dr Uchechukwu Ogah as the governor of Abia State.
The National president of the Forum, Chief Emmanuel Okereke, and Secretary, Chief Willy Ezugwu, yesterday in Abuja, said:
“We have watched with dismay the current development in Abia State and wish to state in clear terms that we are disappointed with the delay in swearing-in Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah as the governor, as directed by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
“The judgment obtained by Ikpeazu (in Umuahia) is a judicial coup, occasioned by impunity which must not be allowed to stand. We would mobilise the people to enforce the court judgment if the security agencies failed to do so.
“It’s very clear, even to a lay man, that Mr Ikpeazu is no longer the governor of Abia State as his Certificate of Return (CoR) has been withdrawn by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a another one issued to the governor-elect, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah.”
