I remain PDP chairman – Sheriff

The embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen Ali Modu Sheriff said yesterday that he was not sacked by the FCT High Court, insisting that he was not even a party to the litigation.
In an interview with Daily Trust, Sheriff said he was not a party in the said suit, and that his name was not mentioned anywhere in the ruling.
Sheriff said the court only voided the processes leading to the amendment of the PDP constitution in 2014, saying his emergence as national chairman of the party was covered by the provisions of the amendment of that same constitution in 2012.
“I’m a law abiding member of the PDP and strictly work with the party’s constitution. There’s nothing like caretaker committee in the PDP and therefore, the Makarfi led committee is a nullity,” he said.
He said he was ready to work with all that matters in order to resolve the crisis in the party.
