Zamani residents said the siting of an international airport close to the community has not benefitted them as they had expected.
The residents, predominantly peasant farmers, said government rather took their lands subjecting them to untold hardship.
Zamani is located along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The head of the community in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Chief Mohammed Aliyu, said residents face difficulties in accessing other communities especially during the rainy season.
He said the only tarred road in the area leads to the airport while several communities in the area, including Zamani, are left with deplorable road networks.
He appealed to the authorities of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to help in renovating the roads so as to, among other things, enhance economic activities in the community.
Chief Aliyu, who spoke in Hausa said the original inhabitants of the community, who are of Bassa descent, are yet to get the dividends of democracy having lived there for more than a century.
Another resident, Yusuf Adamu, said deploratble condition of the road presents difficulties to farmers when taking their goods to Gwoza market few kilometres away.
