The Commissioner for Culture and Ijaw National Affairs in Bayelsa State, Mr Austin Dressman, has said that God endows the Niger Delta region with oil for optimum development of the seven states of Nigeria where the Ijaw are found.
Dressman reiterated yesterday while presenting his ministry’s score-card at the ongoing inter-ministerial/agency briefing in Yenagoa that Niger Delta oil was meant strictly for the Ijaw in Bayelsa, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Edo.
He added that from day one, Governor Seriake Dickson had made enormous strides to ensure the unity of Ijaw nation in different parts of Nigeria, explaining that the ministry was created to bring Ijaw people together.
He said the state government had trained about 30 indigenes at the Ijaw National Academy and employed them into schools to teach Ijaw language to unify Ijaw people.
